Safeguarding is the first thing we get right, not the last
Every lesson is live, taught by a checked and qualified teacher, on a platform we monitor. If you are worried about a child, tell us and we will act.

It means we take care of you, not just your learning
Safeguarding is about keeping you safe, happy, and protected, especially when something does not feel right.
At Purple Ruler, we want every child to feel:
Listened to – your voice matters
Safe and respected – no one should ever make you feel scared, uncomfortable, or left out
Able to speak up – if something worries you, it’s always okay to tell someone
Protected – all our teachers are trained to help and to keep you safe in every online lesson
Safeguarding means we take care of you - not just with your learning, but with your feelings, your safety, and your wellbeing.

What to do if something doesn’t feel right
If someone says or does something that makes you feel worried, unsafe, scared, or just not okay — you do not have to keep it to yourself.
Talking to someone is the first step to feeling safe again. Even if you’re not sure something is wrong, it’s always okay to ask for help.

Any one of these is the right place to start. You can pick whoever you feel most comfortable with.

Tell us what you have seen or heard
This is the Learner Safeguarding Concern Form, and it goes straight to our safeguarding team. You can stay anonymous. You do not need to be certain, and you do not need to be the child’s school, a worry is enough of a reason to use it.

How we keep learners safe
The page above is written for the young people we teach. This part is for the adults who commission us.
Only ever our own vetted staff. A learner never interacts online with unknown adults or members of the public. Lessons are taught by qualified, DBS‑checked facilitators, and everyone who enters a lesson has been through safer recruitment, including a DBS check.
From time to time a member of our quality assurance, safeguarding or academic team joins a lesson alongside the facilitator. They are checked to the same standard.
Approved platforms only — Lark and Lessonspace. We monitor lesson chat, audio and screen activity, and staff never contact a learner through personal accounts or social media.
Learners only use lesson materials and school‑approved resources shared by their facilitator, all checked and approved by our academic team.

Learners control their own exposure through camera, microphone and chat. A pupil who will not turn a camera on can still take a full part.
Online safety is taught, not assumed — including newer risks: AI chatbots that give false or unsafe advice, misinformation, and fake, edited or AI‑generated images of real people.
A report every Friday, so the school always knows where the pupil is — attendance and engagement included.
