Next Review Date: September 2025

We are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and engaging online learning environment. This agreement sets out what we expect from you while learning online with us, and how we work together to keep everyone safe and supported. By joining Purple Ruler lessons, you agree to follow the rules below.

📘 1. Respectful Behaviour in Lessons

  • Be kind, polite, and respectful to your teachers and classmates at all times.

  • Follow your teacher’s instructions and participate positively.

  • Use appropriate language in all lessons, chats, messages, and assignments.

  • Stay focused on learning. Avoid doing or saying things that distract others.

💻 2. Using Technology Safely and Responsibly

  • Use your own login for LessonSpace and any other platform we have assigned to you.

  • Never share your login details with anyone else.

  • When having your camera on, make sure you are wearing appropriate clothing.

  • Only share your screen if a teacher has asked you to.

  • Do not take photos, screenshots, or record lessons.

  • Do not share anything inappropriate, rude, or upsetting with others online.

🚨 3. Keeping Yourself and Others Safe Online

  • Tell a teacher or trusted adult if someone says or does something that makes you feel uncomfortable.

  • Do not share personal information like your address, school name, or phone number in the chat.

  • Be careful of links—only click on them if your teacher or Purple Ruler has shared them.

  • Cyberbullying, harassment, or making others feel unsafe is never allowed and will be taken seriously.

🧠 4. Your Learning Space

  • Try to join lessons from a quiet, calm area where you can focus.

  • Ask your parent, guardian or school teacher to help you check that your space is safe and your device is set up properly.

  • If you’re struggling to concentrate or feeling unwell, let someone know.

📣 5. If Something Goes Wrong

  • Mistakes happen—if you do something by accident or are unsure, talk to your teacher.

  • If you see something worrying or upsetting, report it right away. See Safeguarding for more details.

  • We are here to help, not punish—always speak up.

❌ 6. Behaviour That’s Not Okay

Here are a few examples of things that are not acceptable in your online lesson with Purple Ruler:

  • Using rude or offensive language

  • Bullying, mocking, or excluding others

  • Sharing inappropriate content or messages

  • Recording, screenshotting, or copying lessons

  • Logging in under someone else’s name

  • Refusing to follow teacher instructions or trying to disrupt lessons

  • Smoking, vaping, drinking alcohol or using drugs

⚠️ 7. Response to Unsafe or Inappropriate Behaviour

If the rules in this agreement are broken:

  • Your teacher might give you a reminder or warning.

  • You might be temporarily removed from a lesson.

  • Your parents or school may be contacted.

  • In serious cases, your access to lessons may be paused until further further behaviour management strategies are in place.

✍️ 8. Agreement and Acknowledgement

We expect all learners and their families to read and understand this agreement.

By joining Purple Ruler lessons, you agree to follow these rules and behave in a way that keeps learning safe and enjoyable for everyone.
