1. Overview of Purple Ruler's Educational Approach:

 

 

At Purple Ruler, we believe that tutoring is done best when students are given a consistent teacher who understands their goals and helps to provide bespoke guidance to ensure that they can keep pace with the rest of the school. Our work is bespoke to each student or group, there is no one-size-fits-all approach.

- The program for math is built around your overall curriculum plan but with a strong focus on the areas that students are struggling in.  Here we are also able to take an ESL approach to math education, focusing both on the development of math and English through math. 

 

- The program for ESL is built around online immersion lessons. We focus on having students engage in actrive use of the language as well as writing and reading exercises with their students. We focus on teaching interdisciplinary topics through English to make rapid gains in applying increased English skills across the curriculum. Our teachers must have their students actively speaking, reading, and writing for the lesson to pass our quality assurance standards.

The lessons in our curriculum apply to our Purple Ruler English Level (PR English Level) below. as long as students are making progress through our levels you are going to see advancements in the other related benchmarks you can see in the diagram.

3. Curriculum Alignment:

 

 

Our tutoring curriculum is designed to align with our partners' academic standards and objectives. We ensure that our content is both complementary and supplementary to the existing school curriculum, reinforcing core concepts while gap-filling and scaffolding new knowledge. 

 

Your teachers can use our submission forms to tell teachers how to shift their focus where necessary, allowing for even greater alignment with the curriculum.

4. Pilot Program and Feedback Loop:

 

 

We propose initiating a pilot program within a select group of schools to demonstrate the efficacy of our tutoring services. Feedback from students, educators, and administrators will be instrumental in refining and optimizing the program for broader implementation across OCPS.

To lower the barrier to entry further, we would be happy to set up a few free lessons so that you can learn if your students feel it would provide value to them.
